Better than the Mafia: Twitter crypto scamming botnet earns hundreds thousands of dollars in a few weeks
I am trying to raise awareness of a major twitter scamming botnet that has been going on for the past month. No one in the media or anywhere else is talking about this.
It involves the crpyto giveaway scam. The premise is that the victim sends x amount of bitcoin or some other coin in the promise of having their money multiplied. Of course, nothing comes, hence it's a scam. For years, scammers have been impersonating famous people, such as Elon Musk , to solicit such fraudulent donations. It has been a major success.
I'm the only one talking about this except for disgruntled people in the comments:

Targeting Shibtoken related accounts:
This situation is out of control. A scammer, what I have called the ".net twitter scammer" is running one of the largest, most impressive scam networks I have ever seen.
Description:
1. uses .net domains from .ru registrar and name servers

https://crpmax.net/giveaway/#last-news
https://crypfans.net/shiba-giveaway/#last-news
these are just some of them
2. makes tons of money . By my estimation, since late October 2021, the .net scammer has made made half a million dollars in combined bitcoin and Shiba Inu proceeds:

3. Unlimited hacked accounts. It hacks into thousands of twitter accounts/day to spread its scam. This alone should alert Twitter's attention. Obviously something, some vulnerability, is allowing someone to compromise thousands of accounts everyday, over and over, to no end. Why isn't Twitter aware of this?
4. Auto-posting. With the hacked accounts, the scammer will flood the comments feeds of Elon Musk with hundreds of these accounts hours on end, over and over, all automated. Repeating the same messages over and over.
As far as white collar crime operations is concerned, this is among the most lucrative enterprises witnessed. Not even insider traders make anywhere close to this much. Same for drug rings, telemarketing rings, ransomware, pirated movies and software, pharma, gambling, etc. Unless you are like James Harris Simmons , Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Tom Brady or an exec at a major firm, there is really nothing comparable to this in terms of consistent, massive, risk-free money. The .net Twitter scammer made more in one week than even a Google engineer earns in a year.
Imagine you are a Hollywood director of a crime flick. Probably there would be guns, drugs, police chase and a getaway car, grievous bodily harm and so on. What if instead of all of that, the criminal goes to twitter.com, finds a way to hack into thousands of accounts, and just pretends to be Elon Musk instead, and this does day after day for months or years undeterred. He copies Elon's avatar, username, and uses some Unicode to fool the Twitter's spam detection system...and presto..millions of dollars of crypto profits at no risk.
The mafia does not even compare even during the '90s. Even John Gotti, who is considered the epitome of a successful criminal, only had a net worth of $30 million in 2020 dollar, which these twitter scammers will easily exceed at this rate. In fact, one such scammer has, making about $20-40 million by my estimation through YouTube and or twitter scams.
The mafia, most drug lords, insider traders, racketeers sucked at crime. They took enormous risks, being arrested or killed, only to make a few million dollars. Crypto giveaway scammers, on YouTube and twitter, are blowing these guys away.
The success of the twitter giveaway scam goes to show how you can make far more money, with almost no risk, by having people give you money under a false pretense, than steal it. Ramsomware gets too much media and FBI attention from the perspective of criminals, but stealth Elon Musk scam profits are not only bigger but fully undetected.
How much money do people have to lose before something is done. My money is on "a whole lot more."
